Reports: Captors set new deadline for UN hostage in Pakistan

Balochistan - The separatist group holding a United Nations official in south-west Pakistan for about a month on Sunday threatened to kill him if their demands were not met within four days, media reports said. The warning was issued by a shadowy rebel group, the Baloch Liberation United Front (BLUF), in a letter, Pakistan's private Online news agency reported. Gunmen abducted John Solecki, the regional chief of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees office in country's south- western Balochistan province, on February 2 in the provincial capital, Quetta. His Pakistani driver was shot dead in the ambush.
The news agency said BLUF demanded the release of more than 1,000 people it claimed were being held by law enforcement authorities in Balochistan in exchange for Solecki.
The separatist group earlier asked the UN to resolve the issue of Balochistan's independence under the Geneva Convention.
